™ and ©1995 Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Inc.

Dark Horse Comics branches out into the pulp fiction field with this four-issue series containing Edgar Rice Burroughs’ final, unfinished Tarzan story. In this illustrated text adventure, which was completed and embellished by Joe R. Lansdale (Jonah Hex: Riders of the Worm and Such), Tarzan befriends Professor Eugene Hanson and his beautiful daughter, Jean. The two have come to Africa to search for proof of the legendary man-apes, which Hanson is sure truly exist. They run afoul of a quartet of Foreign Legion deserters, led by the wicked Wilson Jones, who are themselves searching for Ur, the mythical city of gold. The King of the Apes must put aside his natural mistrust of Man to assist the two scientists.

The backup feature reprints another of Burroughs’ creations, John Carter, Warlord of Mars, which was adapted as a newspaper strip in the 1940s by his son, John Coleman Burroughs.
