Eric and Woody have known each other since childhood. Despite their differences, they became friends, partly because their fathers worked together in a research facility. When their fathers were mysteriously killed, Eric and Woody discovered high-tech gauntlets, which, when slipped onto their arms, would not come off. These gauntlets can access an electromagnetic containment field, but unless Eric and Woody connect with each others’ gauntlets once a day, they will be transformed from matter to energy.

In part, this title deals with the issue of friendship between two people with incompatible personalities. Eric, who calls himself Quantum, is serious and self-absorbed, while Woody, who calls himself…Woody, is flippant and superficial. Though it sounds like standard super-hero fare, this title’s use of clever flashbacks and humorous and sarcastic banter make it an exceptional read.
