Josh Blaylock has created a fantasy world where penguin teenagers resemble their Hip-Hop Nation counterparts. In the frozen wasteland of Antarctica, the unique birds have their own ska band, go skateboarding, and have drag races in souped-up snowmobiles, all while trying to avoid their arch-nemesis, Big Pig. Using what appears to be an ordinary baseball, but is actually the powerful Mystic Hacky Sack, Lightning Penguin transforms three of his friends into super-powered penguins. The silliness of anthropomorphosized penguins is a welcome relief from the increasingly grim and violent world of comics.
