Witches

When a mystical book is opened releasing a creature that threatens every mystic in existence, Doctor Strange must gather three distinctly different witches to help him defeat the creature and retrieve the book. But the trio—Jennifer Kale, Topaz, and Satana—don’t seem to want to play nice together, which will inevitably make their task more difficult than it already is. Stuck in the middle of it all is Jennifer’s brother, the one who inadvertently opened the book and started the threat.

The highlight of this issue is Mike Deodato Jr.’s gorgeous art. His highly detailed, realistic style brings everyone and everything to life. His version of Doctor Strange is regal and powerful, and the guy can draw attractive women. There isn’t much action, but it’s a good guess that, when it occurs, his rendition will be spectacular.

Walsh’s story is a good introduction to the different personalities of the three witches, and watching how he develops their relationship should make for an interesting, fun story. This series could be one to watch.
