Modesty Blaise: The Black Pearl

™ and © 2004 Associated Newspapers/Solo Syndication

Author Peter O’Donnell’s Modesty Blaise is regarded as the height of 1960s chic and one of the best action/adventure strips to ever grace the newspaper page. Titan Books has been reprinting the sexy mercenary’s adventures for years, and this series of high–quality graphic novels collects the classic black and white Evening Standard comic strips by O’Donnell and legendary artist Jim Holdaway.

In “The Black Pearl,” Modesty returns to Tibet to repay a debt she owes a proud and ancient people, and “The Magnified Man” involves an exo–skeleton and a gold robbery. “The Jericho Caper” finds Modesty and Willie, her right–hand man, taking down a South American dictator, while “The Killing Ground” sees the pair evading three hunters who are out for their hides. This edition also includes an interview with O’Donnell, as well as artistic overviews.
