Megaton Man: Bombshell
(Image, 1999)
™ and ©1999 Don Simpson
A farce, satire, and good yarn all in one, Megaton Man comes from Don Simpson, the artist/writer whose varied work as an artist includes Wasteland from DC Comics.
Our hero has a huge body, an incredibly thick neck, and a teeny, tiny head. He thinks and speaks big, hardly a phrase passes without an exclamation point, and his supporting cast is equally as florid. Ms. Megaton is an African–American irritated about being overlooked; Bombshell is a stacked send–up of the good girl/bad girl genre; and Megaton’s sidekick, X-Ray Boy, does tend to ramble on… and on.
Over the years, Megaton’s adventures have included dying, making things worse, and fighting against chaos. Through it all, a slew of comic clichés are mocked. In addition to this print series from Image, his adventures are chronicled on the web and have appeared as backup features in Savage Dragon.
