Larian: a land of treaties and treachery, prophets and mystery. For hundreds of years its people have known a kind of peace. All that is about to change.

A vicious paladin, Naythen Skrithe, has raised an army and is prepared for war. His claim to the throne is based on the visions produced by a crystal chamber which predicted his bloody reign.

Larian’s only hope is a young girl who is seventeen and blind. Her only friend is a priest named Daare Lemande; her only protector is a half-man, half-elf named Madlin.
