The Power Company: Manhunter

    (DC, 2002)
™ and ©2002 DC Comics

On the trail of a stolen shipment of plutonium, Nightwing is following Kirk DePaul, a mercenary and trafficker in stolen goods. DePaul’s reputation paints him as an amoral opportunist selling his services to the highest bidder. He also has excellent hand-to-hand fighting skills as Nightwing discovers when DePaul evades his surveillance and confronts him. Aside from his name, DePaul’s style is eerily similar to Paul Kirk, known as the Manhunter who died defeating The Council in Detective Comics #443. However, The Council cloned Kirk many times to assemble a cadre of superior warriors. Kirk DePaul is one of those clones and given his genetic source, he may be more than a simple mercenary.

Manhunter was one of seven one-shot books that served to introduce each member of Kurt Busiek’s new series, The Power Company. The Power Company is a super-hero group that is incorporated like a law firm, taking some jobs on a for-profit basis and others as pro bono work.
