Dark Shadows was a creepy gothic soap opera that was all the rage on TV from 1966 to 1971 and has since gone on to exalted cult status. Barnabas Collins, a troubled soul laboring under a curse for 200 years, inhabits ancient Collinswood Mansion where he struggles for redemption. For those who couldn’t wait until the next episode aired on TV, Gold Key dutifully adapted the show in a fairly long-lived series featuring their usual blocky artwork and plodding storytelling. Lush painted covers and a photograph of Barnabas’s brooding face provided the bait that lured readers into this title.
