Unity

    (Valiant, 1992, 1994)
Valiant

As a company, Valiant has always been known for its strong continuity—its ability to fit its characters and storylines into a coherent whole. This paid off on a grand scale when they launched Unity, one of the most ambitious crossovers that had ever been seen in comics.

Unity was the story of how an embittered woman named Erica Pierce appoints herself “Mothergod” in the year 4001. She then launches a project called “Unity” to remake time itself, destroying all reality outside of her tiny realm, then literally remaking the world itself. The earth itself senses the danger and calls geomancer Geoff McHenry to raise a force to stop Pierce. A truly epic struggle begins, with heroes from all times brought together to stop Pierce.

As a comic series, Unity was a turning point for Valiant, helping to transform a fledgling company into an established force in comics.
