The Harrowers (Clive Barker’s…)

    (Epic, 1993)
™ and ©1993 Clive Barker

Clive Barker continues to broaden his “Barkerverse” for Marvel with this horror/adventure title, penciled by famed Tomb of Dracula artist Gene Colan.

The Harrowers are six unlikely people who have been chosen by the goddess Morté Mammé as her champions against the Dark One. Their number consists of Ron Ringwood, an outcast who found purpose as a member of the Harrowers; Vera Wyshak, a deceptively easygoing person who in reality is an escapee from death row; Winston Gage, a slow but good-hearted fellow; bratty twins Lavinia and Lucinda Claire, a couple of blondes who are far too stuck-up and selfish for anybody’s good; and Dublin Morse, a narcissistic drunk with an agenda all his own. Each of these has been blessed with extraordinary powers and sent on a battle against Leviathan, ruler of all Hell (and, perhaps not surprisingly, the god which Pinhead and his pain-crazed ilk worship).
