Alive: He was “Boston” Brand, a circus aerialist. Gunned down by a man dressed as a circus clown, he died so the “clown” could prove his worth to a guild of assassins.
Dead: He was given a chance to make meaning out of death by Rama Kushna: the cosmic embodiment of balance between good and evil. He became a super-hero known as Deadman, possessing the bodies of the living in order to wage war against evil.
Tortured: By the isolation of his ghostly existence…by losing the love a fellow ghost he had dared to love…and by a terrible secret from his life that haunts him even now.
Deadman: A tortured soul who must save a world he now despises from a hellish invasion of undying evil. He has known eternal pain before; Now he will know exorcism.
