X-Men Adventures (Vol. 3)

X-Men Adventures entered its third series as an animated cartoon show in 1995, accompanied by the third volume of the X-Men Adventures comic book. Still a consistent winner in the ratings, the show had also drawn fire for having high counts of “violent acts” per show—rivaled only by another favorite, the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers.

The comic kicked off its third season with a variation on the Fall of the Mutants storyline. Remembered as one of the high points of the Uncanny X-Men series, this storyline originally led to the “deaths” of the X-Men at the hands of a group called the Reavers. It also virtually wiped out the mutant clan living in the sewers under New York City, led by the fearless mutant Callisto.
