This series is the linchpin introduction to the CrossGen Universe of heroes and villains in Mystic, Sigil, Scion, and Meridian.

Five mortals on different worlds discover they now bear a mark which seems to herald their new-found powers and abilities. The new super-heroes are: Giselle on the magical world of Ciress; Samandahl Rey, mercenary soldier of Tanipal; Prince Ethan of the medieval-tec world of Avalon; and Sephie and her uncle Ilahn of Demetria’s shipbuilding island of Meridian. Elsewhere, the powers that be are concerned with the arrival of a new force in the universe that may even rival their own power.
