When Mary Bromfield has a fight with her parents she runs away to Leesburg, the home of Linda Danvers. Mary is actually Mary Marvel, although now she has adopted the gender-neutral nom de guerre, Captain Marvel. Mary’s emotional stress leads to an erroneous perception when a policeman who believes she may be a shoplifter, detains her. Mistakenly assuming that the detective is a pedophile brings out her Captain Marvel persona with a vengeance. Luckily Supergirl, (who knows the detective as a friend of her father), intervenes.

This Rashomon-type story illustrates how much emotional anxiety can effect the viewpoint of well-meaning individuals. Written by Supergirl scribe, Peter David, this one-shot team-up book was tightly integrated in the ongoing Supergirl continuity.
