Harvey Hits, like DC’s Showcase series, was a series designed to test run various Harvey characters before graduating them into their own series. Wendy, Richie Rich and Casper and Nightmare all premiered this way, and did continue on in their own successful titles. Others, such as Buzzy the Crow, Herman and Katnip, and Gabby Gob never succeeded past the few issues appearing here. In later years, after being a promising pilot series, Harvey Hits Comics degenerated into mediocrity with many alternating issues of Muttsy and G.I. Juniors near the end of its run.
