Major Inapak the Space Ace
(Magazine Enterprises, 1951)
™ and ©1951 Magazine Enterprises
Major Inapak The Space Ace was a one-shot give-away comic used as a promotional piece for a vitamin fortified chocolate drink called INAPAK. The product derived its name from the “packettes” of product contained in each box.
This 1951 comic tells the story of the first manned landing and discovery of life on the moon by Major Inapak and a stow-away boy in 1984. The moon-landing event takes place just as aliens from the planet Lunrak are planning the destruction of Earth. The very end of the comic features a 3-page science lesson that promotes the virtues of the INAPAK. Startlingly, the benefits not only included strong bones and clear skin, but “good red blood” and “steady nerves.” Yes they were serious.
