Also an anime title, To Heart is a lighthearted romantic manga about friendship and an unrequited crush. True to its name, To Heart is a sweet romance about the innocent love that Akari has for her childhood pal Hiroyuki. Ukyou Takao’s series is subtler than its peers, allowing the relationship between Akari and Hiroyuki to gradually develop. Akari keeps her feelings inside, even when she’s jealous of other women getting Hiroyuki’s attention. Other characters are introduced as the story unfolds, but the center of it all is Akari’s affection for her best friend. Oddly enough, To Heart was based on an adults-only dating simulation game.
