Cheeta Pop (Vol. 2)
(Eros, 1995-1996)
™ and ©1996 Frank Strom
Winsome young Cheeta Pop is just another working girl—a working girl whose work happens to be making low-budget porn movies. With her trusty companions Madame Butterfly, Lindsey, Fuschia and boyfriend Boy Johnny, Cheeta battles the forces of goodness and political correctness as she tries to make a living in Hollywood. Frank Strom’s story and art certainly has its erotic appeal, and the comic reads like a behind-the-scenes documentary of the making of a porn film. But Strom also makes more than a few clever jabs at the erotic film industry, and the people who make their living in it. Cheeta Pop is worth a look not merely for its title character and her sexy cohorts, but also for the backup story, a hilarious super-hero send-up: “Muscle Tone,” the tale of an erotic super-team and their most vile arch-villain, former porn-star-turned-criminal Queen Jayne.
