Identity Disc

    (Marvel, 2004–2005)
™ and © Marvel Characters, Inc.

When a mysterious character shows up claiming to work for a crime–lord that is thought to only be an urban legend, she brings six of Marvel’s most sinister villains—Sandman, The Vulture, Juggernaut, Deadpool, Sabretooth, and Bullseye—together to steal the holy grail of criminal information, The Identity Disc.

By holding something dear to each one over their heads, she forces them to agree to sneak into A.I.M.’s New York headquarters to steal a database that supposedly contains the secret identities, addresses, and even credit information of every known super–hero. If they succeed, they get back that which they hold dear and they get to be the ones who destroy the super–hero population.

The set–up is likely to convey the sense that readers have seen this story done before. But something will compel them to keep reading to see who the mysterious character and her employer are. When they see who dies at the end, there’s no way they’ll miss coming back to see where Rodi takes this.
