ZZZ

    (Alan Bunce, 2000)
™ and ©2000 Alan Bunce

Canadian Alan Bunce neatly handles the dual linguistics of his native country with this whimsical title, which relies solely on pictures to relate its hero’s whimsical dreams. In the first issue, the hero, who looks somewhat like one of the Smurfs, falls down a magical, mystery hole into a treasure trove, where he releases a playful genie. Soon, the two are running around, tripping and tumbling in slapstick fashion, made even funner by the genie’s magic trickery. It’s almost a shame our hero has to wake up at the end.

Zzz is a delightful fantasy title appropriate for kids of all ages—and nationalities.
