Pilgrim & Son in the Festival Ritual

    (Knockabout, 2005)
™ and © 2005 Hunt Emerson

Have you just not gotten enough new adventures of Gilbert Shelton’s Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers lately? Then, give Pilgrim & Son a try. It is the adventures of an addled old hippie by addled old underground British cartoonist Hunt Emerson. This collection features adventures that originally appeared between 1988 and 2003. Some of the adventures are just truly surreal like a head-trip, while most are more traditional in the Freak Brothers’ vein. It’s always funny to watch Pilgrim describe to his disinterested son the virtues of the hippie lifestyle using real events as a backdrop.
