The Philistine

Blending an almost cartoonish, woodcut-like style of artwork with a more sober, Dark Knight sensibility, The Philistine centers on an urban vigilante with a penchant for philosophizing and a knack for using bad grammar even with a degree from Yale. Nick Bottom is a former secret agent with a grudge against the underworld and a desire to clean up the streets on his own terms. Labeled a “philistine” in his first well-publicized encounter, Bottom is a loner and a rebel and similar to every other tough-talkin’, hard-drinkin’, cigarette-smokin’ hero who ever seduced the dames and clocked the hoods. His weapons of choice are iron balls encased in rubber-make up your own joke-and his involvement with a covert organization and a former lover only further complicates his shadow-filled existence. Life’s tough when you’re the best at what you do, and Bottom knows that all too well.
