Essential Incredible Hulk

Although the Hulk is one of Marvel Comics’ most well-known and beloved characters, the original series by the powerhouse team of co-creators Stan Lee and Jack Kirby generally isn’t considered to be among their finest. Nevertheless, this is classic materia has proven to be nearly as influential as Lee and Kirby’s work on The Fantastic Four. The initial volume of Essential Hulk collects the first six issues of The Incredible Hulk, continuing into Tales to Astonish after the Hulk’s own title was cancelled. Lee and Kirby were clearly inspired by B-movies, with Kirby vividly illustrating Hulk’s monstrous visage and overwhelming rage while the well-read Lee found the heart within the beast.
