On assignment to the West Coast, photographer Peter Parker, also known as Spider-Man, comes face-to-fist with Image’s genetically enhanced youths collectively called Gen13. After the gratuitous misunderstanding and fight, the heroes realize they are on the same side, and Spidey helps the kids against the threat of Glider.

Glider, a super-powered mercenary, is the real focus of this story. She is reminiscent of DC Comics’ Rose & Thorn, in that she has a split-personality. The civilian persona is not aware of her double-life as Glider, but her personal life suffers from the consequences of her mercenary activities. This one-shot provides an introspective look behind the motivations of Glider, with the heroes used mainly as background for the story.
