Star Blazers is a five-issue mini-series published in 1989 by Comico, The Comic Company. A former member of the elite fighting force, the Black Tigers, has amassed a renegade fighting force. General Helms’ army has but one goal, the complete destruction of Earth’s fighting forces. The only people who stand in his way are his old squadron, the Tigers. Armed to the teeth and using the Battle Cruiser, Argo, the Black Tigers fight the deranged soldier. The Tigers are lucky to have an extra team member for the mission, Colonel “Pops” Shannon. “Pops” is the founding member of the Black Tigers. He knows Helms’ style and tendencies. This is a valuable asset because Helms is a powerful adversary.

Star Blazers derives from the popular animated television series of the same name. Markalan Joplin wrote the series with Harrison Fong and Bill Anderson teaming up to handle art duties.
