Supergirl/Prysm Double Shot

    (DC, 1998)
™ and ©1998 DC Comics

Prysm is essentially a living prism of light, raised in an isolation on the moon Titan. Although her body was trapped, she lived out a rich fantasy life, courtesy of long-forgotten television shows broadcast through space. For her, family meant Happy Days and Leave It to Beaver. This fantasy life was lost to her when the Teen Titans freed her from her prison. They became her family then, but now she’s lost even that, since they recently broke up.

This one-shot special finds a parallel to Prysm’s existence by pairing her with the latest Supergirl, herself something of an orphan. Both come to the rescue of a being called Fringe, who is being hunted by the H’San Natall who seek to make him into a monster under their command. As the heroes discover, Fringe was born to two human parents who tried to kill him as an infant because they were so shocked at his appearance. Now there is time for second thoughts—and to understand the true meaning of family.
