Deathlok (1st Series)

Deathlok first appeared in Astonishing Tales #25, a cyborg killing machine whose brain belonged to human Luther Manning. After a run in Astonishing Tales, Deathlok faded from view, appearing sporadically in various issues of Marvel Team-Up, Captain America, and others. Finally, in Marvel Comics Presents #62, his brain was destroyed when the onboard computer electrocuted him.

In 1990, Marvel revisited the Deathlok project in this four-issue graphic novel limited series. Cybertek Systems (the applied cybernetics division of Roxxon Oil) have decided to continue with their failed Deathlok project. The only problem: they need a new brain for the system. That little difficulty is solved when Michael Collins, head of their computer systems division discovered that his “prosthetics” project was actually a weapons system. Michael, a pacifist, threatens to quit. Instead, he was captured—and woke up as the new Deathlok cyborg!
