Metamorpho (Mini-Series)

    (DC, 1993)
™ and ©1993 DC Comics

The element man breaks free of the Outsiders, and occasional appearances with the Justice League, turning out to be a strong character in this mini-series.

The former-soldier-of-fortune-turned-super-hero, Metamorpho has much to contend with, even as the series begins. He can turn into any element at will, but it doesn’t help his problems at all. His wife, Sapphire, has divorced him to marry Java, a caveman with a modern brain (isn’t it always that way?), and his son has inherited his powers—in reverse. Since the baby turns anything it touches into another element, he is kept locked away from others. Metamorpho is desperate to rescue and free his son—and it’s rumored that there is a cure for the power to change elements. Add in a scheming, heartless father-in-law and a archeologist/soldier-of-fortune turned metamorphical and you get intrigue, adventure, and more than a few chuckles.
