Reminiscent of Jeff Smith’s Bone, Days of the Dragon is a lighthearted, all–ages comic book featuring multiple stories, all set in the same fantasy world. According to the introduction, it’s set on a distant, medieval world where every citizen is a dinosaur–like creature called a Dragon.

Kids and adults alike will enjoy these stories of honor, sword–fighting, heroes, revenge, and the like. There’s one off–panel act of violence that may scare the youngest readers, but it’s nothing that wouldn’t be found in a modern Disney movie.

The main characters are Sparkhawk the fighting monk and his traveling companions Domino the triceratops and the “crick,” a large insect named Ex. Writer Ron Fortier also delves into people and places elsewhere on Dragonworld. Fortier and artist Gary Kato infuse these characters and others with fun, three-dimensional personalities. Besides the kids, those who like talking animals with their swords and sorcery (fans of Tellos especially) will find a lot to like.
