Superman: Unconventional Warfare

When Greg Rucka (Queen and Country) signed on to write Adventures of Superman, he apparently decided to put the Man of Steel through his paces. First of all, strained relationships make for good drama, so Lois Lane—aka Mrs. Superman—is removed from her husband’s life and embedded as a reporter in Umec. Then, Clark Kent—aka Superman himself—is assigned as a ride–along reporter with the Metropolis Special Crimes Unit, which sort of cramps his style as the Big Red S—just as a souped–up version of the old Green Lantern foe Replikon shows up. And just when things couldn’t get worse, Mr. Mxyzptlk pops in from the Fifth Dimension to gum up the works. This excellent trade paperback collection offers up a grittier take on the Superman mythos from one of comics’ and popular fiction’s best.
