Preying on the people vulnerable to mortal sins, “freaks” emerge from the shadows to hijack their bodies. The bane of humanity, these body-snatchers give victims living nightmares, and their attacks are increasing. However, the paranormal investigation agency led by Asagi Nanami specializes in exterminating these monsters.

A natural-born killer of freaks, Nanami is a “stand” whose gut holds an all-seeing eye. Helped by his male secretary Amano, bunny-eared demon-eater Tokiko, shy Mahime, and sultry Yahiro, the detective solves one mystery per chapter. They investigate a disgruntled office worker, missing maids in a mansion, a teddy-bear mugger, an attempted group suicide, and a schoolgirl ghost.

Drawing upon the popularity of The X-Files and CSI, this series is part crime-thriller, part bloody horror, and part soft-porn, as female assistants disrobe and are attacked at opportune moments. Asagi’s origin remains in the dark, as he summarily dispatches hapless foes. Though varied and drawn with a lithe touch, the cases’ solutions lack the requisite fear factor, making this an unintentional manga version of Scary Movie.
