This title boldly promises, ‘Truth is stranger and thousand times more thrilling than fiction!’ Fact stranger than fiction? Yes. A thousand times more thrilling? Not exactly since its narrated using a documentary-style point of view that wrings emotions out of the story. Published during WWII, it feels like news correspondence from the front. Initially, one would expect jingoism or propaganda rallying the home front to stay the course during that fateful time in our nation’s history. Be assured that none of those themes are present since the Axis Powers were politically expedient targets. The principles of democracy should be told with spirit and passion that otherwise would be a labor in vain.
