Daniel Boone

At his worst, history tells us that Daniel Boone was a violent, drunken, semiliterate fur trapper, a bigoted Indian-hater and the cause of a number of avoidable conflicts along the frontier prior to the Civil War. But thanks to the magic of television, Daniel Boone is best remembered today for those nifty coonskin caps, actor Fess Parker’s rugged good looks, and everything that’s good, law-abiding, practical, and brave about the mountain folk who expanded west of the Appalachian range.

Gold Key’s adaptation of the popular television series featured straight-ahead versions of Daniel Boone and crew taking on outlaws, Indians, and crooks.
