Super Soldier

    (Amalgam, 1996)
™ and ©1996 Marvel Characters, Inc. and DC Comics, Inc.

Super Soldier is one of twelve one-shot titles published jointly by Marvel and DC under the Amalgam imprint. These titles were the result of the two comic universes having “merged” in Marvel Versus DC/DC Versus Marvel #3. This title combines the attributes of Captain America with those of Superman to create Super Soldier.

The title character was a participant in a secret project designed to create a perfect soldier during World War II. The key to the project was the injection of a serum based on the DNA of a mysterious being who died on impact when his spacecraft crashed in Kansas in 1938. This serum gave the volunteer incredible powers, including flight, near-invulnerability, X-ray vision, and more. He used these to turn the tide against the Axis powers in World War II until he fell in battle against the dread robot “Ultra-Metallo.” Later he would be revived by the JLA to discover his old enemy, Lex Luthor, had also survived.
