The One

    (Epic, 1985-1986)

For decades the world had worked itself to the brink of nuclear devastation. Then a businessman named Itchy Itch decided to kick it over. His company had been selling military electronics to both sides containing a special program which gave Itch control. He used this to trigger a naval battle between the U.S. and the Soviets, planning to cash in on the resultant upheaval in the financial markets.

Then something unexpected happened. Two-thirds of the world seemingly went to sleep, and a great light appeared in the sky. The Soviets took it as an attack and launched their missiles. The U.S. launched theirs in return. Hundreds hit their targets, but none detonated. Instead, the world met its first real super-hero.

The arms race had ended. Longstanding secret projects were revealed. And the race to create super-beings was just beginning.
