Rawhide (Dell)
(Dell, 1962)
™ and © Dell Publishing Co.
Get ‘em up, move ‘em out… Rawhide! So goes the theme song of the popular 1959-1966 television Western that is more notorious today as the launching pad that helped make Clint Eastwood a household name. This was long before all of those Sergio Leone spaghetti Westerns. The actual star, though somewhat forgotten today, was wagon master Gil Favor, portrayed by Eric Fleming. Eastwood was Favor’s sidekick, Rowdy Yates. This comic book series was first published by Dell and then resumed in a new series published by Gold Key. All of the books are now highly collectible becase Eastwood’s photo appears on the cover of every issue.
