This long-running romance comic kept up with the times in its almost two decade run. By the mid-seventies, Love Diary had moved beyond the typical girl-meets-boy, boy-proposes-to girl formula to stories such as a conniving jealous girl disrupting an already dysfunctional relationship; a woman leaving her boring boyfriend for a more exciting man; and a woman dating another man despite her engagement to the one she loves.

Like many romance comics, the framing device used throughout was a sort of “Dear Diary” entry in which the woman storyteller would recount the romantic scenario.
