Cheerleaders from Hell
(Caliber, 1988)
™ and © 1988 Caliber Comics
They say you can’t judge a book by its cover, but sometimes you can. Something is very wrong with four varsity cheerleaders at Hillsdale High—they’re having strange dreams and seeing ghosts. The four junior varsity cheerleaders discover what’s wrong…the girls are possessed by demons! There’s only one way to combat them, and that’s for the JV members to channel the spirits of a clan of four great warriors from years past that defeated the demons before. Can they save their friends and send the demons back to Hell? Not without getting medieval on them with a sword or two.
Setup and presented like a movie, this one-shot from Caliber has a lighthearted tone—which is to its credit, considering the subject matter. Buffy the Vampire Slayer it’s not, although the theme here is somewhat similar. Published in black-and-white.
