Mighty Mouse Comics

    (St. John, 1947-1959)
™ and ©1950 Terrtoons, Inc.

Aside from spawning the comic book industry, the initial popularity of Superman generated characters that were meant to parallel his image. One of these was a mouse. Mighty Mouse can fly, is invulnerable and is incredibly strong. These stories were funny and lighthearted, consisting of formulaic tales of “good” mice and “bad” cats. Defending Mouseland from the schemes of his own band of villains, such as the Sphinx and Oil Can Harry, was a fairly routine task.

In addition to Mighty Mouse, this series from the 1940s and 1950s also featured the misadventures of Heckle and Jeckle, two cunning and crafty crows.
