WitchGirls Inc. brings together two Heroic regulars—The Black Enchantress and Psyche—as a duo who start their own detective agency. On the one hand, Black Enchantress is the most interesting character under the Heroic umbrella right now. On the other hand, Psyche doesn’t stand out quite as her partner does, making for an unbalanced team. The third member of the group, John Carstairs, works for the two. In the mix is the agency’s secretary, Clarissa MacDougall, nicknamed Vanity.
This “super-sized” issue contains plenty of story, but, again, what really sticks out are the pages with Black Enchantress. (It’s unfortunate that that character’s self-titled series ended with #3.) It’ll be interesting to see where the creators take the team and how well they can further develop Psyche, John, and Vanity; Vanity, in particular, has plenty of potential for interesting development.
