Marvel and DC Present
(Marvel, 1982)
™ and ©1982 Marvel Comics Group
In 1982, crossovers between publishers were rare and special events, and none were as much anticipated as the get-together between Marvel’s Uncanny X-Men and DC’s New Teen Titans—the two hottest titles then on the stands. The two super-groups were united when DC’s baddest bad guy, Darkseid of Apokolips, revived the all-powerful Dark Phoenix, who had just met her demise after an action-packed (and top selling) series in the X-Men. The New Gods’ Metron and Titan villain Deathstroke the Terminator made guest appearances.
Chris Claremont wrote the epic, and artists Walter Simonson and Terry Austin did a good job synthesizing the styles of John Byrne and George Pérez to give the crossover an appearance consistent with the artwork in both series.
