Automaton
(Image, 1998)
™ and ©1998 Flypaper Press
There is life on Mars. It had remained undetected because the Martians are beings of pure energy. At least they were until they possessed the metal constructs, called automatons, developed by Dr. Brad Shekter to explore the planet. Inhabiting these robot bodies, three of the energy creatures, Sherzad, Bront and Konak, traveled to Earth to make first contact. The long months of confinement and the bizarre experience of being physical for the first time in their existence drove Konak insane. He now believes his mission of exploration is to be one of destruction. Since he can interface with computer systems, including the systems that control the nuclear arsenal, he is capable of destruction on a global scale.
The definition of humanity is challenged when Dr. Shekter teams with the other automatons to stop Konak while Shekter’s supervisor attempts to eliminate all of the automatons, regardless of their actions.
