Satan Gone Wild
(Asylum, 2004)
™ and © Asylum Press
Robert Steven Rhine extends his Satan franchise with this collection of five vignettes that would no doubt cause heads to explode at the Comics Code Authority were the book submitted for their approval. A lavishly rendered abundance of putrescent ooze, flayed flesh, and grody zombies treat on the usual horror subtexts: fear of sex, resentment of authority, loss of individuality. “Eat Me” as illustrated by Alexsander Sotirovsky offers some biting media commentary as well. Kevin Colden, Nenad Gujunca, and Hilary Barta illustrate the other stories in black and white under a color cover by Frank Forte.
