Seriies continued from Sarge Steel #8

When a grenade blew off his hand in Vietnam, Sarge Steel was given a prosthetic steel hand. He became private detective when he returned to the States but owing to the popularity of James Bond and the spy motif in the mid-1960s, he underwent a transformation from private eye to a C.I.A. operative.

Mr. Ize, who hypnotized his subjects to do dirty work, the slinky seductive feline-themed Lynx, and the swastika-wearing Smiling Skull, were some of the outrageous villains that Agent Steel went up against. Although he didn’t utilize his judo expertise as a secret agent, instructional pages left over from his Sarge Steel phase were printed as a backup feature in this title. Secret Agent lasted only two issues after the metamorphosis from Sarge Steel.
