This 2000 A.D. reprint stars five inmates sentenced to hard labor on SPC-14, most infamous of the penal colonies that lay deep underneath the northeastern United States in the year 2109. The group is comprised of four men and one woman, jailed on a variety of charges ranging from terrorism against the corporate state to computer hacking.

With nothing left to lose, the group planned an escape. But no sooner had they blasted their way to freedom than they were scooped up by the Office, a secret a government agency. Over the years, the government had lost its power to rule, and that control now lay in the hands of giant corporations. Those corporations employed an army of lowlifes and drug pushers to keep the populace occupied in a state of dull torpor. The government gave the inmates an “offer they couldn’t refuse” to act as their own private “street gang,” fighting the corporations’ thugs on their own level.
