Goody Good Comics

    (Fantagraphics, 2000)
™ and ©2000 Jaime Hernandez

Published by Seattle’s groundbreaking indie press, Fantagraphics Books, Goody Good Comics is the latest in the enduring and increasingly popular alternative comix field. Though used to showcase established as well as rising comix talent, the Goody Good Comics anthology sometimes reads likes a veritable who’s who of underground comicdom’s biggest names. For instance, the Hernandez brothers, Gilbert and Jaime, responsible for Love and Rockets in the 80s and 90s and often cited as inspiration by new comix creators, have provided original work for Goody Good Comics. Targeting adults who see comix first and foremost as a medium of artistic expression, this title often showcases violently absurd and graphic situations intended for mature audiences. Printed in black and white, Goody Good Comics brings to a new audience the same irreverent, bizarre, and occasionally insightful look at life pioneered by such notable comix as Robert Crumb’s Self-Loathing Comics and Mr. Natural.
