Chic Young’s Blondie has been a part of the American consciousness for decades. At its heart, it’s the story of a rich layabout named Dagwood Bumstead who falls in love with a beautiful but significantly poorer woman named Blondie. When they marry, Dagwood’s family disowns him, and this lovable, but chronically lazy dear has to go to work for the first time in his life.

As luck would have it, he winds up in the employ of Mr. Dithers, an old blowhard who chews out Dagwood with legendary frequency. It’s all pratfalls and good fun though. No matter how many times he winds up in the doghouse at work or at home, Dagwood and Blondie always leave us laughing.

Originally published by McKay, this series moved first to Harvey, then over to Charlton from issue #177 on.
