Legion Lost

Name an often-used formula in the comic book industry to infuse a waning title with new life: Take the title’s main character(s) and drop him/them into a completely new environment with no apparent way back. Such is the case in DC Comics Legion Lost. Best described as a cross between the Legionnaires and Star Trek: Voyager, the series takes the 30th century’s popular super-hero team and drops them in the outer reaches of known space, far from home. Both physically and emotionally lost, the group must learn to put their differences aside (no small task for this diverse bunch) and work together if they plan on ever seeing Earth again.

Apparition, Brainiac 5.1, Chameleon, Kid Quantum, Live Wire, Monstress, Saturn Girl, Ultra Boy, Umbra and a tag along from the local parts of the galaxy, float aimlessly through space grappling with the fact that they may never find home. Add to that an alien race known as the Progeny, whose sole purpose is to exterminate any life form they deem unpure, and you’ve got a super-hero version of a classic sci-fi television series. What’s next, the JLA meet’s NBC’s Friends?
