Grad student Jason Tower was walking across campus one day when two thugs kidnapped and brought him to a huge mansion next to the sea. An old man claiming to be his grandfather informed Jason his true last name was Monarch and showed him a strange spacecraft which was to be used to take him to Tycho crater on Earth’s moon. The old man explained that centuries ago, an advanced race dedicated to helping humanity had suffered a catastrophic blow when their island home exploded in a volcanic eruption. The survivors made their way to their lunar research station where eventually they were able to carve a new city for themselves.

The black-and-white first issue begins the saga of Earth’s hidden defenders. Originally meant to be released in color, the plot and story are captivating.
